General Information on Economic Citizenship
Economic citizenship is a route that allows foreign nationals to become a citizen of a participating country, through a government sponsored investment programme.
An application can be made on behalf of an individual, or an entire family (applicant, spouse and two unmarried dependent children). Those meeting the requirements of the investment programme are rewarded by full citizenship, including a passport and the right to permanently reside and work in the participating country.
Presently St. Kitts & Nevis offer Economic Citizenship Programme in the Caribbean.
Please Note : Foreign Nationals wishing to buy property and live in St. Kitts & Nevis may do so without having to obtain Economic Citizenship. The EC Programme is only for those individuals who specifically want a passport and full voting rights.
There are still two ways to obtain economic citizenship. The most practical strategy is to make a direct contribution to the government. Once the price increase takes effect, total costs including all fees for a single applicant under this option will come to about $275,000 (up from the current $225,000), or $325,000 for an applicant with up to three dependents (up from $275,000).
Alternatively, you will still be able to make a purchase of qualifying property with a minimum value of $400,000.
Fees and taxes under this option are higher than if you make a direct contribution.
*Purchasers will need to reserve their unit at the various developers and get their Economic Citizenship application in prior to the year of 2011.
